[Bastard Brothers] NPCs and SPCs

edited February 2012 in Out-Of-Game
Thread placeholder to talk about all the NPC and SPCs (Secondary Player Characters) that you have at your disposal for kingdom building. Later today I'll post a list of the NPCs you already know and their best stats, and we can go from there. You can also use this thread to roll up new SPCs - you'll have to refresh yourself on how dice work in-forum; I haven't looked it up yet.

For ease of navigation between this and the Kingdom-building thread, here's a link to the Kingdom thread

Warden Garreck Brinn, crossbow slinger and upstanding lawman.

Garreck Brinn comes from a lineage of lawmen who have helped tame the expanding human kingdoms. A tall, charming, and savvy character in a broad-rimmed hat, Brinn is a reassuring partner to colonists and frontiersmen. Garreck's father was known as one of the deadliest crossbowmen alive, and Garreck is showing the same promise, though he prefers to settle things peaceably if possible. In this land of need, where his skills are highly valued and tested to their limits, Brinn relishes the role of Warden. Not particularly keen on politics, it remains to be seen whether he will stick around in a few years when civilization creeps in around him, or whether he'll continue to trek west at the forefront of the pioneering movement.

  • Corralindra Heartsong, Amran's would-be fiancee. Renown for her beauty and ambition, Corralindra has relentlessly pursued a marriage to the king's (handsome) son as a way to further her own ambitions. After Amran's abrupt departure to the west it is unknown what her next move will be, though she is an extremely shrewd politician at Court with a knack for getting her way.

  • The Piper of the Western Woods. Regional fixture. Alignment unknown.

    Treasurer Samsheine Armstrong.

Samsheine was a life-long adventurer, now long past his prime. He started on his path to adventure as a savvy, wayward youth in questionable company. After a life-changing enlightenment, Samsheine briefly tried the role of a paladin, and though his heart was in the right place, he struggled with his oaths. Leaving the Order behind, Samsheine embarked on a decades-long adventuring career of some renown. Often the wisest in the group, Samsheine was not only a heavy-hitter with his thunderous hammer, he was often the groups' accountant. His background in resource management, treasure allocation, sourcing special-request items, and understanding the needs of adventuring monarchs made him a natural hire for the brothers and the kingdom. He is reluctant to admit that his strength is fading, though it is evident to everyone. He gasps for breath after long walks, and there is some concern that his depth perception may be failing, causing him to stumble frequently.

    Brodewyn Fanais, Alchemist

After a disastrous lab accident destroyed half a city block and cost him an eye, Brodewyn decided to quickly leave town and start afresh out in the wilderness. Better herbs out here and such, anyway.

Oleg. The guy's a total chicken in battle, and can't be trusted with accounting, but he's the only supply link to the outside world... for now. He's otherwise a pretty nice guy with an impossibly hot, younger wife.

Svetlana, Oleg's hottie wife. She is an excellent hostess and cooks an addictive moon radish stew, as well as being a trained sommelier. Svetlana's knife skills aren't limited to the kitchen, and she could capably defend herself if needed. It's not clear what she sees in the old man, but she loves him dearly.

The text says Svetlana's blonde, so I'd been casting the girl who runs http://solgave.tumblr.com/ in my head. Yours is fine too tho

Jex the Snitch, rogue. The most disliked chap in the place, but he's got a role to play with his hawk eyes. No action or detail escapes Jex's notice, and a good leader will find use for such a talent.

    Fat Nory, chef extraordinaire.

Fat Nory, despite difficulty hiding because of his size, is an expert hunter and trapper who knows all the best places to get local fish, meats, and fruits. Having been given a generous stipend for herbs and culinary needs by the Stag Lord, Fat Nory has one of the best-stocked kitchens in the kingdom - and he knows how to use it. His use of his culinary skills not only feeds his own insatiable appetite, but he cunningly uses favorite foods to earn favors from the other bandits. Fat Nory enjoyed a quiet loyalty from the men until things were recently shaken up, and he has wasted no time trying to secure his base and place in the new kingdom. He is a repository of local history and lore, and will talk your ear off about both given the chance.

  • Auchs or Ox as his friends spell it, will never know how close to death he came the night before the start of the new kingdom. It wasn't his renowned strength that saved him but his child like nature as it happened Brok recognized the toy knights and Dragons Auchs kept as the missing pieces of the very same set he had played with as a child. So I think we go the heavy way with the Royal Assassin as the public executioner we will, have to get him a special axe and hood (+5 to loyalty -1 to unrest)
    - Auchs, Fighter 3

    Str 20 (+5)
    Dex 11 (+0)
    Con 14 (+2)
    Int 3 (-4)
    Wis 13 (+1)
    Cha 4 (-3)
  • So I'm thinking this guy for Marshal (+5 Loyalty) Maybe as a defender of the kingdom he will find his path back to being a paladin

    Akiros Ismort, Ex-Paladin 1, Barbarian 3

    Con 20 (+5)

  • This guy is enthusiastic enough about being high priest so I think we go with him

But all SPCs can be brought to Level 4, so that means 3 extra feats and 2 ability +1s. (You're almost level 4, so we may as well stat them all up as 4)
