The rules for this game are simple:
F1 Re: Esc is a game for people who are bored at work with just enough time to read a forum. The goal is to keep your creative juices flowing, shrug off the negativity, and escape from the grind.

No Homework accumulates in this game. Even if there’s a game in progress, all you need to do is read the Seed and the most recent Challenge. As the game goes on, there’s still never an obligation to "catch up" on the thread, or even to Claim a Prize.

The Seed starts the game; after pasting these rules, the OP writes 100 words and then issues a Challenge in 20 words or less. From then on each post should Answer, Cheer, or Claim a Prize.

Answer by writing a response to the latest challenge in 100 words or less. Don't Answer your own Challenge. Try to work in the same spirit as the seed, but there is no wrong way to answer a challenge. In the same post, issue a new challenge in 20 words or less. This challenge doesn't name a specific person, just what you want someone to make.

Cheer by quoting an Answer written since your last post and declare it a Winner. If you've never posted you can declare any Answer a Winner. Spectators and lurkers are welcome to declare winners even if they don’t post themselves!

Claim a Prize after someone has declared you a Winner. You Claim a Prize by writing, in 120 words or less, on any topic you want (but not issue a Challenge). Again, try to work in the same spirit as the seed, and again, there’s no wrong way to do it.

Crossposting with Honor If you find you have cross-posted with someone else, and your challenge appears below theirs, then your challenge is considered honorary – it can only be answered by a winner if they choose to answer it when they Claim a Prize. If you see this it’s a good idea to edit your post and show that your challenge is with honor.
There is violence here. Above all, in this neon hay-day, there is violence. It's not knives or guns. It's people. A crack in the room, and this girl trips through the crowd. With the music blaring, I don't hear her say, "You got anything?" I shake my head. I have nothing. I am a badly shaven cowboy in an unfamiliar place. I'm looking around at the leatherbound nightmares and wondering what I'm going to have to do to find Zingo. I just want to get the goods, hand over the money, and get the fuck out of dodge. This is a scary city, and it sure as hell ain't licensed. I'm not paid enough to try to actually interact with this urban scum.

Challenge: Tell me about how the girl follows the narrator, and why she refuses to leave him alone.

  • Suddenly, unexpectedly, the girl’s hands are round my neck, the cold rim of a pistol held against my ribs. She was a Contract, that’s for sure. You never know them till they get you. Luckily, the only thing they never do is kill. Or so they say.

‘Take me to Franks,’ she whispers in my ear, ‘take me to the man who sent you here.’

Who the fuck is Franks? Never mind, I can deal with the second request first. I lead her out the bar, pistol at my back now, and across the street to the monorail station.

Challenge: Well, who the fuck is Franks? And where are they going?
  • She keeps talking about Franks. Something about how she'll be forced to resort to violence if I don't cooperate and talk. "Listen, girl, I don't know any fucking Franks." I size her up. She weighs about eighty pounds if she weighs anything. I could easily take her down, I'm sure.

The monorail hits its last stop, at the junkyard. We briskly step off into the screeching, smoggy wasteland. She's panicking, scanning the area with an intense stare. "This isn't Franks', you asshole. Where are you taking me?" I try to explain, yet again, that I don't know Franks, and that my employer was Scrappytooth, and that I'd love to take her to him. She threatens me. And it's now that I get stupid, and attempt to get away from the gun-totting crazy girl.

Challenge: Explain how the girl takes you down, and why she wants to find Frank.
  • She's moving way too fast, unreal fast, kicks my kneecaps. I hit the ground and then the pain is a living thing - hangs back for a second, and then sticks through my legs, up my ass, shakes my spine, and shuts off my brain.

She broke both kneecaps faster than Scrap’s cam could pick them up, and when he saw that there was no way he was opening up. She screamed at the door; said Franks made her and he was fucked. She took the cash and split, and that means I’m fucked, and Zingo’s probably fucked too.

Challenge: Who is Zingo and what were the terms?
